Barnesville, Liberia — The Chairman of the People’s Movement, Seton P. Loglar, served as Guest Speaker at the graduation ceremony of St. Peter Lutheran High School in Barnesville on October 3, 2026, using the occasion to sound an alarm on one of the gravest dangers facing Liberia’s young people: drug abuse.

Addressing graduates, parents, teachers and school administrators, Chairman Loglar described the spread of drug abuse among Liberian youth as an urgent and existential threat, one that is robbing families of their children and the nation of its future. He reminded the graduating class that the achievement they were celebrating represented years of sacrifice by their parents and teachers, and that protecting that investment requires vigilance against the influences that have already derailed too many promising lives.
The Chairman stressed that the fight against drug abuse cannot be left to government alone. He called on school leaders to make awareness and prevention part of everyday school life, on parents to stay closely involved in their children’s lives and to set clear standards of discipline, and on the graduates themselves to make personal choices that keep them on the path to success and to look out for their peers.
He further urged the entire community to lend its full support to every national effort aimed at combating drug abuse, emphasizing that awareness, discipline and collective action, beginning at home and in the classroom, are the strongest defenses Liberia has against this crisis.
The People’s Movement extends its congratulations to the graduating class of St. Peter Lutheran High School and thanks the school’s administration, faculty and parents for the invitation and warm reception. The Movement remains committed to standing with Liberia’s youth and to working alongside schools, families and communities to build a drug-free generation.
